Blond Ambitions

August 22, 2015 · 14 Comments

Hey ladies! This is actually an impromptu post. Your awesome response to by hair debut encouraged me to tell my little story. I hadn’t planned on using these images on my blog because I didn’t think they turned out so great. My photographer did awesome, but I wasn’t exactly Beyoncé and “feeling myself”. I was having a little body pity party, table for one. I’m sure you ladies can relate. I was second guessing myself as to why I thought it was a grand idea to throw on this crop top without the comforts of a high-waisted midi skirt lol. However, sometimes you just have to venture out of your comfort zone and try new things. And most importantly, it’s really about the hair, right?

So hiding up under that luxurious curly wig was my blond TWA (teeny weeny afro). I decided to do another big chop on 8/5, one of many I have done I might add. It was weird. While I am no stranger to cutting my hair, this time around was different. I wasn’t feeling pretty afterwards. It’s like I was attached to the one little swoop bang I was working with. I grabbed a wig as soon as I left my barber and told myself that I would let it grow before I debuted my natural look to the world.

A few weeks later, I found myself looking at one of my fave natural ladies Blake Von D on Instagram. She is so gorgeous and so fierce with her short cut and almost silver strands. Thoughts of platinum colored locks began to float through my head. Blond? Me? Moi? Oh no, no, no. I certainly couldn’t pull that off. I mean I’ve been red, sandy brown, jet black, but never crossed over to the world of blond. But something told me to go for it. That this was the oomph I needed to get me out of my slump. Both my beautician and barber delivered with this color and cut and a new woman I became. Maybe I’ll keep it up or maybe I’ll be on to something new in a few months. That’s the fun thing about hair, it grows back ready for a new adventure.

Peace & Love,
