Ante Up Or D.I.Y.

Hey ladies! I’ve been wanting to showcase my little DIY project again with an official blog post. I made this necklace a few months back to wear to the Motown Musical I saw with friends and family. My inspiration drew from the wonderful creations at Dylanlex.com. If you haven’t heard of them, well now you can join me in drooling over their gorgeous baubles and jewels. You’re welcome. Because I didn’t have the Dylanlex funds I did the next best thing, I made my own. Forever 21 came out with some oxidized necklaces last year that gave me the same vibe. Some of them came in sets so that you could layer them and all were very inexpensive in comparison to the real deal. I found three necklaces that I thought would look well together and stopped by Michael’s for some basic jewelry making supplies. I picked up two mini pliers and some jump rings so that I could connect my necklaces together. It was a tad bit tedious, but not at all difficult to remove the chains with the pliers and use the jump rings to attach the necklaces so that it appeared to be one seamless piece. All in all, the total costs for my supplies and jewelry was about $50. I say that I made out pretty well. I hope to share more DIY projects with you all on the blog and may eventually venture into doing YouTube videos with how-to’s.

Necklace: DIY
Hat: H&M Top: Target (Old) Jeans: Forever 21 Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Black is my go-to color when I want to let accessories shine. So I paired my necklace with a side-split sweater tee from Target and some high waist black denim jeans from Forever 21. I am so ecstatic that I finally found me a hat that fits my big head and isn’t flimsily made. I had been on the hunt for one all fall and the one I wanted from F21 had been sold out for the longest. This one is from H&M and I bought it in black and olive. Hope you enjoy the look!

Are you a DIYer? What are some things you have made or would like to learn how to make? Let me know in the comments:)
